FOLLOWING THE SUCCESSFUL ACTIVITY IN THE NORTH;
MAGEN DAVID ADOM PUT A SECOND HELICOPTER IN THE AIR

The helicopter ambulances are expected to transport about 1,200 victims of traffic, work and private accidents per year.

Magen David Adom in Israel, have in the last few days put a second helicopter into service to transport victims, this time stationing it in the Industrial Area of Beit Shemesh where it will serve the centre of the country and will transport victims mainly to Hadassah Ein Karem, Soroka and other hospitals in the centre of the country. The helicopter, which will cover the centre of the country and Jerusalem, joins the helicopter already operating in the North of the country since 5.11.2007, based at the heliport of Poriyah Hospital in Tiberias. The trials using a helicopter as part of the treatment and transfer of patients by MDA have so far proved successful, and the first helicopter has already taken part in about 50 incidents from which it has transferred victims to hospitals. 90% of the victims transported by the helicopter were trauma victims, and most of them were transported to the trauma centre in Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

This is another stage in the initiative of the MDA Director General, Eli Bin, who wants to cover the whole country with possibility of transportation by air. In approximately another two months a third helicopter is expected to be delivered and it will be based in Yerucham, and will also transport victims from the South of the country.

At the heliport at the Tel Aviv Medical Centre (Ichilov), which, in the future will be one of the six medical centres in the country for air transport of victims and patients by MDA, a simulated exercise of landing and transportation was carried out. The purpose of the exercise was to test the capability of landing the helicopter on the tower, to train the safety procedures and to hand over the victim to the hospital staff. The exercise was very successful. The helicopter took off and landed several times, carried out a full simulation of landing and handing over a victim by a Magen David Adom paramedic to the staff of the hospital and to the Trauma room.

The In Flight Intensive Care Project, which went through many stages until it finally came to fruition thanks to the unfailing efforts of MDA Director General, Eli Bin, indicates a significant upgrading in the availability of medical care given by Magen David Adom in Israel to the general public. The airborne service allows swift arrival at the scene and even swifter transferal of the trauma victims from accidents and different events, and as a result saves lives and hundreds of thousands of Shekels for the army, who until now had to send army helicopters for air transferals

The aim of the helicopters is to transport victims and patients, and they are specially kitted out for this. Every helicopter used for this purpose has a permanent team of a pilot and two paramedics, who underwent special training for this in MDA. At this point in time, a second course to train "flying paramedics" is taking place in preparation for further helicopters which will be put into use in the near future all over the country.

The dramatism of the sky is impressive and I like the two parts of the shotone with helicopter and one with the people
A strange symmetry
Hugs

Hi Assi,
Imressive scene with contrasty colourful sky. There is interesting tension between the helicopter and the group that seems to be ready for action any second.

Hi Assi,
I keep watching the photos you post here of the helicopters and i must say they are all beautiful.
I like this one due to the worm red colors of the sky and the composition of the mans standing next to the heli in front of a storm.

Keep posting,
Amir
