Photographer’s Note
This is Avshi, a real cowboy living in Ramat Hagolan.
It may be a surprise for some that a real cowboy is actually living in Israel, but it's true. He grows up cattle and living his dream after moving from the city.
This is one of the reasons he was chosen to be in an advertising campaign the ministry of tourism is doing to the US market.
The Idea of the campaign is to focus on Israel through the people, and let the Israel landscape is only the background. The campaign will show still photos (taken by me) of 6-8 people that have an interesting story about them. They could have a story of something they were involved in, or an interesting hobby.
The campaign is being done by “Christy MacDougall Mitchell Bodden” and was released later this year to the US market.

Hello Gilad,
Your model and the sky is stunning from your photo's thumbnail. I like your perfect POV and quality of capture. Fill flash helped a lot for the details. Excellent. I wish a good week end.
Friendly Regards,

Shalom, Gilad -
Very good shot, even with a bit of wide angle distortion. I like the way the cowboy is positioned against the clouds.
And I didn't know Israel had cowboys!

Hi Gilad,
Superb portrait. Excellent use of the wide angle. Beautiful and yet not overwhelming landscape.

This is a great cowboy portrait! I love the sky and the grey horse and the feeling of being windswept. Excellent job.

I like how the wide angle adds drama to this shot, and together with the point of view you've chosen makes the man and his horse look larger than life. excellent shot, Gilad, thanks for sharing :)
best,

Hi Gilad,
Wow....it is interesting to see this image taken in Israel....not only do I not expect to see a cowboy, I also do not really expect to see the grass covered terrain. I know it must be there, but it's not the usual landscape reflected of Israel. Great POV and great sky. Very well captured.
Cheers Grant

Hi Gilad,
The point of view is just great. And a good note on cowboys in Israel - and yes, that's not something I would have expected! :-)
Very nice to see the photographs you have taken for this campaign. Some great postings for sure!
Have a good weekend,

Really fantastic pov. The shadows and contrast really give texture and depth to the shot. Rgds, Leilani
