I always find a fighter praying in his phylacteries a little surreal. I mean, there is a symbolic conflict setween the "uniform" and what it symbolizes, and the phylacteries that symbolize a much more peacful and spiritual approach to life.

However, this is just the way it is for a lot of Israeli's. The conflict of having to fight to survive, and still keep the faith in god to lead us the way and keep us safe.

This was taken during the war againts Hizbullah.
Just a few days ago.

Take a look at "A Different Look At Israel" presentations

Hi Gilad
A very strong picture, i agree that it feels a little surreal with a soldier praying.

Nice photo and framing.
However, in my opinion the war hasn't agains Hizbullah, but agains Lebanian people.

Hi,

I like the shot its self but I always hate wars. Specialy when they take place in the name of God :(

Wish Peace and friendship for all the people all around the world ...

Shahab,

Good take, Gilad!
Composition is good, not centering the man and getting the fence behind, the Talit case and the drying uniform, no doubt after serious usage...
Well done!!

Hi Gilad, I think this shot is very powerful and symbolic, with his book and phylacteries contrasted with the uniform. Your composition makes me really look at these contrasting elements and think about the war. I think war is very sad. Maybe he is praying for peace so he can go home to his family.

Thanks for sharing!

Erin
