The cat is sharp, that's good - but the background and lighting are a problem here. Ideally you need the cat to stand out in the picture, and for that to happen you need to isolate it from the background. Here the strong patches of light (and geometric patterns of the wall) draw my attention into the background. As a result of the lighting the cat looks muddy by comparison. Have a look at this cat shot for comparison: photo 9410
Also try and think of a way to integrate the cat into a travel scene - both pictures are just cat portraits, nice, but they don't fully explore the interaction between the animal and the environment. You've made a good start here though :-)
