My Intro to Israel, Day 5, Scene 2
Our next destination fro the morning was the Church of the Beatitudes, a Roman Catholic church located by the Sea of Galilee near Tabgha and Capernaum. It is located on a small hill overlooking the Sea of Galilee, and built on the traditional site of Jesus' delivery of the Sermon on the Mount. Pilgrims are known to have commemorated the event on this site since at least the 4th century. This is a relatively modern church, built between 1936 and 1938 near the site of the fourth century Byzantine ruins. Its floor plan is octagonal, the eight sides representing the eight Beatitudes. The church is Byzantine in style. Inside, it has a marble veneer casing the lower walls and gold mosaic in the dome. In front of the church there are mosaic symbols on the pavement which represent Justice, Prudence, Fortitude, Temperance, Faith, Hope, and Charity.
PS. After I got a few comments that the photo is tilting to the right, I added a workshop photo showing why I do not think it is tilting, but it is lens distortion we are observing.

Fine view of the Church of Beatitudes, appearing much older than the 1930s, with an architecture blend of Romanesque and Byzantine. The octagon dome with flying buttresses dominates along with the Moorish arches.
Thanks for sharing,

This is a nice shot of this famous church. The frame seems to be tilted a bit to the right, you can easily correct this in PP.The lighting and colors are great and the photo has fine sharpness and detail. The two palm trees provide nice framing for the shot.

Hi Murat, I think you have new intro photo, or maybe I do not remember well. Excellent presentation of this church. Nice colours and good sharpness. Yes, I also have an impression of tilt. Maybe perspective corrections would help a bit? Anyway, interesting. These is a must point of the organized tours. The building itself is not so important and interesting as the history of the place (for Christians). As I remember, there was nice view.

very curious the shapes of this church. looks like different in style despite we can see the byzantine elements on it. looks like a big house. nice details and good light and sharpness.

I believe it's lens distortion too, it has given a sense of dynamism to your composition but its effect on the dome is a little weird. I like very much the strong colours and the excellent definition of your presentation. This church building is very attractive. Although its colours are much more discreet than those surrounding it, your light and contrast management was great and exalted the particular architecture. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,
