My Intro to Israel, Day 3, Scene 7
Our next stop was Bet Shean National Park. This Israeli national park protects the ancient city ruins of current day Beit Shean.
Beit She'an is strategically located at the junction of the Jordan River Valley and the Jezreel Valley, essentially controls access from the interior to the coast, as well as from Jerusalem to the Galilee. Throughout history, the city has been the center of the Egyptian administration of the region, a Canaanite city was used by the Philistines as a base of operations for further penetrations into Israel proper, a part of the larger Israelite kingdom under the rule of the Biblical kings David and Solomon. It was resurrected under the name Scythopolis during the Hellenistic period becoming the leading city of the Decapolis under Roman rule. It was a primarily Christian city during the Byzantine period. The city was renamed Baysan during the Arab Caliphate period. In the Crusader period, the settlement was part of the Belvoir fiefdom. Under Mamluk rule, Baysan was the principal town in the district of Damascus and a relay station for the postal service between Damascus and Cairo. During the 400 years of Ottoman rule, Baysan lost its regional importance. Under British Mandate, the city was the center of the District of Baysan.
This photo is looking into the Roman cardio of the city from the entrance of the park.

Bir sonraki durağımız Bet She'an Milli Parkı idi. Bu İsrail milli parkı bugünkü Beit She'anın antik kent kalıntılarını korur.

Framed by some branches at one side this is a very beautiful view of this archaeological site.
At the same time also a good picture of the dry, rugged mountain scenery that surrounds the ruins.
A remarkable staircase leads up the mountain slope, probably to a great viewpoint.
The picture is well detailed and shows the entire area in a good composition.
Best regards, Paul

you are presenting this very interesting archeological site from a most effective point of view, offering us a thorough and captivating description with abundant details. I like very much the sense of depth, clarity is superb and most useful so that we can study the ruins and try to reconstruct an image of the glorious past. The information in your note is helpful and quite fascinating. I also like how the ruins have merged with the landscape and how the chromatic contrasts vivify the scenery. The light has marvelous clarity. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

When I first read the title, I was expecting to see some street car racing taking place. :) This is much more interesting and historically significant though, so I'll gladly forget about the cars. This elevated position offers up a nice, wide view of the park and the landscape off in the distance. The couple along the main drag give a wonderful sense of scale, they must have been a bit lonely though out there all by themselves. Bright, clear and well framed. Enjoy the rest of the evening. Take it easy.

From the POV chosen, managed to show the beautiful sight to it's full length and depth, Murat.
This is another place I did not visit for no less than 4 centuries... must revisit, really - the place is well cared as i can see here.
Fine shot, people/tourists gave scale and the hills beyond frame well the landscape.

Hello Murat, This is fabulous view, from what you have shown up to now I like it most. I love such ruins, beautiful columns and look great with the high rock behind and some palm. Fascinating place. Is it a road to the top? There the view must be also splendid.Good work

A good high pov with excellent sharpness and good color and saturation. The fg tree at left frames the scene, adds depth and color contrasts against the arid bg. The people add scale. The colonnaded street makes a fine focal point. Tfs!
