Tunisian Synagogue Exterior

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is the "Tunisian Synagogue" in Akko, Israel, so named since it serves the community of Tunisian Jews who emigrated to Israel and live in and around Akko. I may post additional images from this amazing synagogue, which is covered from top to bottom in mosaics depicting scenes from the Bible, old maps of Israel from Roman times on, and various prayers and so forth. The man organizing this claims it has been 50 years in the making, thanks to donations from Jews around the world. Anyone visiting Israel should head to Akko and spend a couple of hours in this living work of art. It gives an idea for our time what it must have been like to live in ancient times in buildings decorated with mosaics.
I skewed the picture somewhat to straighten the distortion the very wide angle Sigma 10-20 mm lens introduced. |

Alan, nice shot, different view of Akko that I would have expected but certainly deserving of a place here on TE. Nice capture.
