The Jezzar Pasha Mosque is located on al-Jezzar Street, inside the walls of the old city of Acre, overlooking the eastern Mediterranean Sea. Acre also known as Akko, is a city in the Western Galilee area of northern Israel. It is situated on a low promontory at the northern extremity of Haifa Bay.
The mosque is an excellent example of Ottoman architecture, which incorporated both Byzantine and Persian styles. Some of its fine features include the green dome and minaret, a green-domed sabil next to its steps (a kiosk for dispensing chilled drinking water and beverages), and a large courtyard.
The mosque was the project of Acre's Ottoman governor in the late 18th century, Ahmed al-Jezzar (the butcher) Pasha, who was equally famous for his cruelty, impressive public works, and for defeating Napoleon at the siege of Acre in 1799. Jezzar Pasha ordered the mosque's construction in 1781 and had it completed within the year; it was built over a former church and other Crusader buildings. There is a tughra or monogram on a marble disc inside the gate, naming the ruling Sultan, his father and the legend "ever-victorious".
Adjacent to the mosque is a mausoleum and small graveyard containing the tombs of Jezzar Pasha and his successor, Suleiman Pasha, and their relatives.

What difference city! I was surprised when I saw your photo. Specially I like mosques and castles as architecture. Sky's color and sea's color are very nice and adaptable. But you had to capture the boat which is left of photo, better. I watched your photo with enjoy. I am Turkish. Ottoman is our history.

Nice to see you back with this winner; the detail is fine and the framing has a very balanced feel; the note is very intteresting as well.

The lovely well captured details to this striking 18th century Byazntine architecture makes a stunning contrast to the varying shades of blue from the sea and sky.
Especially like the green dome agains the vibrant cloudless blue sky. The speed boat in the foreground lends nice scale to this lovely coastal image.

Pleasant color between the blue of sea and sky, and the green of the minarets and dome.
All the best,
