My Intro to Israel, Day 6, Scene 4
The title for today’s upload requires some explanation. Wikipedia explains the cause of heat haze, or heat shimmer, as: “Convection causes the temperature of the air to vary, and the variation between the hot air at the surface of the [ground] and the denser cool air above it creates a gradient in the refractive index of the air. This produces a blurred shimmering effect, which affects the ability to resolve objects, the effect being increased when the image is magnified through a telescope or telephoto lens.“
I took this from the aqueduct of yesterday’s upload. I was fond of the golden dome of the mosque shining far away and took this photo at maximum zoom (624 mm in 35-mm equivalent). While I was preparing this note, my internet search lead me to Jisr az-Zarqa, which is the only remaining Arab town in Israel located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Before the establishment of Israel, it was inhabited by Bedouin of the Ghawarina tribe. In 1948, the intervention of Jews from the neighboring towns of Zikhron Ya'akov and Binyamina, who relied on the inhabitants of Jisr az-Zarqa for agricultural labor, prevented the dispersal of its population.
So, the location of this photo is only an educated guess. I will be happy to change the title, map location (which is approximate) and my note if I am corrected by someone who knows the area.

Merhaba Murat bey,
I've visited Haifa 5-6 times to collaborate with one of my closest friends (we were at Oxford together in the 70s), but I do not remember this view at all. The only gold gilded dome I know in the city is the Bahai Temple.
Are you still planning to come to the DC area in the next week or two? Please, don't hesitate to give me a call (I believe I sent you my cell phone number through Facebook).

Good composition well balanced with the tower and this landscape with green vegetation, maybe not enought sharpness.

Well explained about the humidity we have on our costal-plains, Murat, this is typically called in summer the "Persian trough", and sometimes it affects spring times.
Jisr az-Zarqa, is merely "the bridge to Zarqa", in the eastern slopes of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, from there this special tribe came some 200 years ago. They have tradition to marry within their tribe only, so did not mingle with other Arab population in Israel, they are not Palestinians and they keep themselves very secluded. Only once I drove through the village, found a marvelous beach over there.
Fine taken from an unusual location.

The view is magnificient
But I feel a problem with image definition
Did you used the numerical zoom with your camera ? and with this way you lost a lot of pixels

I like how you composed this picture in a panoramic frame and how the view looks like a mirage. You managed to capture and maybe enhance the heat haze effect really well, what we see seems real but has a dream-like quality too. I like the combination of vivid colours and blurry details, we get an impression of what this scenery looks like but a lot is hiding before our eyes. It's like an image from a fairy tale. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
