Lanner falcon
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Lanners had not been seen in northern Israel for several decades. They have been victims of poisoning, as have other birds of prey, as a result of the uncontrolled pesticide use, that has brought many raptor species to the verge of extinction in Israel. Some species disappeared completely, such as White-tailed Eagle that once bred in the Hula Valley, the Peregrine, the Brown Fish Owl, and the Lanner that once bred in northern Israel. The only Lanners remaining are 25 pairs in southern Israel.
Since 1990 the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel has released lanner chicks each year into the wild as part of a project for returning falcons, vultures White-tailed Eagle and other birds of prey to the Israeli landscape again. |

Great capture and very good picture.
I think that there are too much blue tones, I will send a WS with a litlle levels correction.

Well caught on film, good use of DOF, excellent sharpness and detail of the plumage. It would be interesting to know from what distance the picture was taken.

A beatiful image that does right to this magnificent bird. I have seen the workshop by elroyie and I think he corrected the colors very well. Even if the Lanner Falcon is a bit more "greyish" in his original livery, this one looks like a joung individual, so the brownish color should be OK.
Fantastic framing. Very well captured.
What can I say? Absolutely fantastic!!
Fantastic shot, great capture.
