I was quite pondering whether to load this one or not - I liked the lighting conditions here, as well the tone of the monochrome...However, I was missing an additional subject, more pronounce than the patterns and shadows on the sand...In some way, it IS full but in some other way, it feels a bit empty - what do you say?
Apart from the above dilemma, I also liked the irony in this scene: A fence that were supposed to prevent from people to climb the ruins of the aqueduct, but as the sand started to accumulate, it rose high enough for even a 9-year old kid to hop over it and reach the ruins (and climb it of course...). I was hesitating whether to crop the right most side (part of the arch) but decided to leave it as is, as I felt that leaving the single arch alone would eliminate the basic idea of the aqueduct's multimeric character...I would be happy to read your comments of this mixed feeling post...
:)

Hi Chen,
I don't find your photo empty, the lower part, you have the shadow, then the sand and in the top the ruins. I like the tones of your pictures, that gives a notion of intemporality in your picture.
Beautiful shot,
Delphine

Bonsoir Chen,
Belle composition traitée en monochrome. Très original et vraiment peu commun. Merci.
Gérard

Hi Chen,
I like the shot because it plays with textures very well: There's the bottom part - smooth sand. Then the rough grass, and at the top you have grainy stone.

I think that the lack of defined subject is only hurt because the stones seem to be too blown out. There is a loss of texture here I think.

The sand is really nice and very smooth with great gradations of shadows, but the stones do look a little strange unfortuantly.

b

a very good composition and a very balanced pic. the monochrome effect has worked best.

Hey Chen,

I do agree somewhere with what verde has said, the expsosure on the stones is a bit off. It would be good to lower the brightness of the photo a bit to maybe try to compensate. But for me the main subject is the shadowsand textures on the sand which are good.

Hello Chen
Very nice lighting conditions I like the way you have managed to portray the different relief in the photo while keeping everithing on the same colour
Very nicely done
Regards
Daniel
