Walking about 600m north of the Alexander-river estuary, ( the WS #1 attached), on an untouched seashore strip, we came to yet another ancient settlement from the time of the Phoenicians.
Like places along Israel coastal-plains, as posted before, Palmachim ancient port and the remains of Apolonia port, this is the remains of Tel-Girit.
Not much known about the place, probably was a small villa on a barrow, rather than a stronghold or a port.
Other known places from 3000BC, the Bronze-era till 1200BC, are Cesarea and Acre in Israel, and Tzor in Lebanon.
Transparent water, a rock's reef and many marine species living here, among them the sea-turtles.
A natural harbor, nowadays local small port of Michmoret, is just north and around this cliff.
WS #2 show the barrow on another POV, looking NW.
WS#3 show the transparent water from the top of the barrow, view SW.
Location on the coast, north on Netanya: 32.4016, 34.8655

A well composed seascape with some interesting animation provided by the fishermen. The foreground rocks give depth to the image, which is nicely lit and has good colours and sharpness.

Ciao Ike, the image is very nice and well framing...the place and the see is also wonderful, and there is a razor sharp...just little bit overexposed in my opinion and in camera raw opinion...

Ciao dear Ike
What a beautiful set of photos, this one aswell as those in the Workshop. In fact at least one of the WS photos is worthy of a post on its own. But I understand why you chose this one, the fishermen (wow there are so many) make a great graphism and complement the natural beauty of this bay so well. I can;t remember who I was talking to about fishermen and fishing, but I strongly believe that in fishing there is a fine line between patience and madness :)
Warmest regards, thanks for sharing

Nice photo of fishing on the rocks. I am now at home but only two days ago I saw fishing on the Good Hope cape. Also very rocky but with more waves.
baddori (20151) 2012-10-15 23:49
Good light for this hour of the morning (I think) and a scene of relaxed life.
Where there are many rocks it hard to draw if not great experience.
sea a little rough door shellfish towards the shore.
Thanks for sharing.

Good Morning Ike,
Some of the people appear to be in precarious situations! No douby they will be fine swimmers!
A very nicely composed shot, with the f/g rocks providing good sense of depth and the figures adding human interest to the scene.
Have a lovely day,

I looked toward all the pictures, the "Altered Image #2" is for me the most beautiful, this is of course a personal choice.
It be all three wonderful, images, with a very nice view about the area.
Excellent composition, nice colors and good presentation. TFS.

In view of many fishermen, a thought or many fish, and many fishing enthusiasts.
A POV fabulous with these rocks that give a great charm to the image, the color of the sea is ideal, as well as the brightness of the waters.
Nice job with the everyday life of people.
The first photo of the WS with a wider view of the coast seems sensational.
Have a nice day.

this is a lovely place, very pure and tranquil, with wonderful colours and superb natural textures. Your presentation through all of your pictures is very interesting, comprehensive and pleasing. I like very much your composition and framing as well as the way depth leads close to the upper border of the frame to the vibrant figures of the devoted anglers. The sea is delightfully vivid. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
jemaflor (98771) 2012-10-16 11:19

corjan3 (2109) 2012-10-17 3:06
Interesting place well captured in your images and just as informative a note. Those fisherman probably are losing quite a bit of tackle but I am sure it is worth it. It seems the light already was quite harsh that time of the morning but you handled it well. Best wishes.

I remeber a similar scene when I was in Alexandria.

maria-v1981 (10932) 2012-10-17 9:17
Very nicely composed panoramic shot, Ike. Beach scenes truly need the human element, which you've provided, and they stand so prominently in the rocks. Well defined in its sharpness, pefectly chosen vantage point.
Have a nice evening,

clic (17265) 2012-10-18 15:26
I saw the movie "March of the penguins" featuring the long pilgrimage of Emperor penguins towards the sea for catching fish to feed chicks; this lovely backlit scenery isn't it a stryking analogy to penguins behaviour!
kordinator (20523) 2012-10-21 1:57
Very well composed seascape with some interesting animation provided by the fishermen.

jcpix (13930) 2012-11-18 12:20
The clear, clean water looks inviting no matter the activity. I like these kinds of images depicting the aspect of daily life. Good composition to show the people but not have them as "clutter" in the picture, very nice arrangement Ike. Hope you've had a good weekend, take care.
Miguel82 (27646) 2013-04-04 11:02

mcmtanyel (23995) 2013-05-05 13:29
Sharp photo, nice colors, well-managed light under difficult conditions and, most of all, scenery that makes me homesick! What more can a Mediterranean-blooded man want?
elenimavrandoni (0) 2014-06-13 21:26
Ike, this looks so much like Attika in Greece...taking the road to Sounion there is many spots like this along the sea and many people go fishing there especially on Sunday morning.
they always come out with some pretty nice fish or sea urchins....
thanks for sharing!!
