Circumcision on a 8 day old jewish baby boy . ..

Circumcision is a religious practice traditionally required by Judaism, usually performed in a ceremony called a Brit (or Bris) milah (Hebrew for "Covenant of circumcision"). A mohel performs the ceremony on the eighth day after birth unless health reasons force a delay. According to the Torah (Genesis, chapter 17 verses 9-14), God commanded Abraham to circumcise himself, his offspring and his slaves as part of an everlasting covenant. According to Jewish law, failure to follow the commandment carries the penalty of karet, or being cut off from the community by God. Brit milah is so important that should the eighth day fall on Shabbat, actions that would normally be forbidden because of the sanctity of the day are permitted in order to fulfill the requirement to circumcise. Sorry but is he biting the skin off?

hi assi,
so many views but only one critique (or question)! i can understand why, aversion to the truth and something of a private nature of this photo. but to me TE is about the world and its culture.
good presentation of the ceremony in good color and detail, good use of light. nice note.

I agree with pranab about many views but where are the comments? If people dont like your photo here they are can say something. I like that photo. Good composition and captured. Many things and so many happend here. I like hand on the bottom. Two things: whats a shame you are cut fingers of hand, and should be more contrast and sharpness. good luck
