Photographer’s Note
These are ING (Iraqi National Guard) soldiers hard at work to sharpen their skills on being defenders of a new free country. Here they are searching personnel and vehicles for weapons and/or car bombs. As you can see there are large hesco baskets filled with dirt to help contain the blast if a car bomb were to go off.
Although the people's mindset will take a while to change, this country is free. A good sign of this is Iraq's participation in the 2004 Olympics in which they placed 4th place in men's soccer. It will take time but in the end, Iraq will turn out a much better nation than before.

Nice journalistic capture, Philip. I think that nobody deserves war, specially many good people from both sides. It´s sad, but since it really exists, it´s nice to see this images from someone out of press agencies. A new sight. Nice documental work! I hope to see images from a better Iraq in the future.
Take care!
