Mothers of Mexmûr
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Nobody can imagine what pain these beautiful mothers saw in their life. Like most of Kurdish mothers they have lost their sons and husbands killed by military forces during the suppression and deportation epoque of 1980/90ies.
These mothers are Kurdish refugees who had to fly from their homeland Turkey because thousands of their Kurdish villages got depleted and destroyed.
Most of these mothers sing about these pains: they tell their life stories as strong dirges.
On the Festîvala Mexmûr (in reminding on the deportation out of Turkey) these mothers sang some dirges.
Dirges are the most populated form of music in Kurdish music |

Hi Ferhat,
I like the composition and note which you wrote about the photo. It feels like it needs to be sharper though. But well done!
Mahmut K.
Hallo Ferhat,
