Following a two-day lull from 4 nights of attacks against the hotels, the activity in the suburbs surrounding the hotels have taken a dramatic increase in activity. With the Al-Sadr militia issuing their own curfew in Baghdad and increasing thier mischief everywhere south of Baghdad, there is alot of worried reaction to these devlopments.
In these pics, (top) a pair OH-58 Kiowas circle above Haifa street while and after they strafe targets with their Hydra rockets and .50 Cal machine guns, providing cover for the Bradleys and Iraqi and American forces on the ground. A secondary fire burns behind the Al-Mansour hotel, two bridges up-river from the hotel. Simultaneously in Sadr City (bottom), a secondary fire burns from a previous assault just as another explosion erupts near a police station.

Just got back from a lot of travel, and checking back numbers. Yes, this was a time ago, as Jorrit says. I don't know why no one's rated it yet. Very informative photojournalistic shot as usual (or, at least, as was usual).
