Photographer’s Note

Today's trek to the worksite promped a sponaneous self-snapshot that couldn't be resisted. Although I am well-known by the Iraqi police and the security forces of the ministries throughout Baghdad, the fact that I do stand out with such a high profile dictate that I go about my business with an additional measure of cover because of the bad guys. Especially considering that for the last four nights, there have been as many mortar attacks against the hotel, the daytime hours only bring that much more peril in attemping to travel from point A to B when A is such a surveiled and high profile target. The solution for someone such as myself is to blend in as much as possible. In this case, this is accomplished by wearing a headscarf wrapped around my head, having the weapons at the ready, and hauling-ass when not pushing our way through crowded intersections of Baghdad.
