this was taken when there was a resemblance of peace in iraq. i saw these 2 young girls resting after running around for hours, it was atumn there and a bit cold but pleasent. only God knows the fate of these girls now along with the country.

mossul is my mothers city and has the highest majority of christain iraqis. its the 3rd largest city in iraq. there is more than 8,000 years of history and dozens of churches dating back to the 14th century.

Hello! Beautiful shot of beautiful girls ;) Hard to believe that this picture was taken in Iraq. A bit different shot from this country then this that I see everyday in newspapers. Great, great shot - that`s good that someone show us different face of Iraq. About technical quality of picture in one word - superb. My congratulations !! Andrzej

Hello Robert,
It is a really incredible shot and hard to believe that is captured in Iraq because most of us never had the opportunity to see shots, pictures or documentary films, reports of this country in such a peaceful and serene conditions. Technically great shot with perfect focusing and very good dof. I don't know which, but you had an excellent camera at that time. Well done and best regards!
Attila

Great moment. Well-positioned. Nice work.

This is more than just a good looking and well composed image Robert. It is a statement of how such idyllic life has been destroyed in you mother's country. I wish you can take more such pretty pictures again.

very interesting point of view and perfect depth of feild...
one of the best in ur collection !
congratulations
Salma

A well realized shot with good colours and composition: the subject stands out really well against the red cover of the fallen leaves. The title is perfect and important: ti reminds us how the situation changed in the last few years.
Thanks for your contribution.

Hello Robert,

A very long time ago Iraq used to be one of the most beautiful place in the world with the most erudite people.

Now...

Your picture is very weel done, the contraste between the light-coloured grass and leaves with the dark fressed girls.

This picture could have been taken anywhere in the world but the fact that has been done in Iraq makes it stronger.

Well done

Thanks for sharing

Tony

Very nice portrait of these beautiful ladies. It saddens to read the note and think about them now. We live in cruel times.
Great colors and excellent, lazy mood.

What a contrast Robert to the photos seen from Iraq thee days. A most interesting setting ' just hpoing it will be back this laxed life for the people there..

Hi Robert,
well done, I like the quality - colors, expression on girls' faces... and I love Mosul, too! I spent in Tamim almost 4 years in total (more than 2 years in Kirkuk in 80's and almost 2 travelling between Baghdad and Mosul, particularly Badush..)
regards - Tomasz

I hope peace for Iraq some day to come soon. Image is good but I think too much background behind the girls. Panoramic format will improve it. The tree is not necessary. Girls and their watches are wonderful.

Hi Robert
I came here by clicking the theme.
This post almost made me cry, because of the title, the lovely girls, and we don't know what happened to them. Even if they are physically OK, their country is not.
Furthermore, the photo is very nice, beautiful colors and sharpness .
Regards,
Francisco

Even this photograph is common, when you read the note guideline changes a LOT !!!.... I mean A LOT !!!

Robert, it's really nice to read and see this theme about IRAQ. Probably (I'm pretty sure) not many people has the chance to see with this album through yours eyes.

TFS
Cheers
Alejandro

Hi Robert,
I would like to see only this kind of photos of your contry. I am very sad about the situation there. Hoping for a better tomorrow and my best wishes to the people of Iraq.
Many thanks for your excellent picture with those vivid colours.
Athanasios.

Hi Robert.

"Joy like the morning breaks from one divine
Unveiling streams which can not fail to shine
Long have I strove to magnify her name
Imperial floating on the breeze of fame..

Attracting beauty must delight afford
Sought of the world and of the Bards adored
Her grace of form and heart alluring pow'rs
Express her more than fair,
The queen of flow'rs..
The queen of BLUE.... "

This autumn beauty is irresistable..
Composition has my salutes for you.

This photo has been commented on many times, but I want to add another. It does look so peaceful with all the leaves on the lawn. You have some gorgeous photos of Iraq and other countries.

As people write, it does pain the heart to see photos like this, and you just hope that there are still some parts of the country somewhere in some nook of the country that you can still do this.

Great portrait Robert. Just an all around excellent piece of work and really good note also. Everything works well - colors, composition, expressions on the girls faces, framing, etc, etc.

Beautiful and sad. I'd prob. crop out the top with the tree, but I love the setting with the leaves. Good eye, Robert.
