I photographed this bird in Tehran airport. This is a Boing 747 SP (Special performance). The fuselage length became however shorter around 14,35 meters than normal 747's (70,60 m). There are approx. 300 seats on the maindeck and 32 on the upper deck. On narrower seats approx. 440 passengers can be carried. The fuel capacity was increased, so that a machine of this type set up a world record for commercial airplanes in the Nonstoppflug Washington to Capetown of 16.560 km length. Only 19 747-SP are still existing world-wide in the flying operation and Iran air is operator of 4 piece of this rare type.
