Date is one of the most famous fruits in the Middle East, if not in the world. One of the best varieties of dates is grown in Bam, Kerman Province, Southeast Iran. I captured this cluster of dates on its palm tree in Bam two moths before it is fully matured. The date fruit ranges from bright red to bright yellow in color, depending on variety. Bam date is mostly dark brown. The fruit contains, among others, glucose, fructose and sucrose content.
Dates are an important traditional crop in Iran as well as in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and North Africa west to Morocco. |
