Photographer’s Note
During the Arabic Hijri calendar month of Moharram, particularly its first ten days, Shiites mainly living in Iran mourn on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of one of their most important religious saints, Imam Hussain. What you see in this capture is a part of Alam. Alam is a huge steel device carried in front of the mourning groups and bands in the public. The steel device is mostly handicraft and full of engraves and depictions.
