Photographer’s Note

The valley of Alamoot situated to the North – East of the town of Qazvin .

The 94 large and small villages of Alamoot region are clustered around the valley.
In daylights they appear as emerald green spots and at nights shine as gem filled cups under the starry skies of Alamoot and on either side of sinuous path in the Valley and mountains.

From a geologically , the valley was formed in the Teritary period , and the mountains are of gypsiferous sediments composed of red , gray and green conglomerates with layers and veins of limestone , dolomite , granite and volcanic rocks . Which make a rainbow Color effect .

The mountains are a source of metals , minerals , sand , gravel-rock and salt , gyps which are partially exploited .

The other constituents of this mysterious and lush valley are its wild and domestic animals . Leopard , bears , boars , fox , jackal, rabbits, weasel, ibex , wild goat and birds of prey such as the rare white eagle, some species of flacon, which in local dialect is called Ala ,hence the name Alamoot , partridge and other other beautiful birds, reptiles and unique insects living around the Ovan Lake and the Bees producing the region s famous honey are all part of the special ecosystem .Animal husbandry is an important economical activity and small flocks of sheep , goats and cows have made a great impact on the regional wealth and diary products features high on family diet .

Salam Atousa, one has to open the thumbnail to see the beauty in this photo, the colours are very subtle, sky and mountain blend with the atmospheric clouds, the herds of sheeps are adding to the beauty of the scenery...

Beautiful landscape and scary weather above. I like hoe the valley being flat rises immediately into mountains with no hills in between. Nicely composed image with good colours and sharpness. Nice work Atousa.

I see you have posted another great photo. The composition is very good, I like the way the clouds seem to touch the mountains. The sheep seem so small in this valley surrounded by great mountains. Magnificent landscape!

I love to visit Qazvin, my friend has invited me many time to visit his factory site there in Qazvin and expecting to visit in September this year, sure I'll make some shots of this site too, TFS.

That is a nice view of Iranian countryside under a well rendered and contrasted dramatic threatening sky, good colors(i think it becomes yellow during summer?) and sharpness. Nice to see herds also giving the scale of these majestic hills and valley
The part of Iran I visited(1976) was much dryier!

Fantastic landscape ... those mountains looks magnificent against that threatening dark clouds. The farmer and the animals gives the scene some scale of dimension. Well captured and composed. Very good image and color quality. Well done! tfs

Hi Atousa - grand landscape, the animals give scale to the size of the mountains, it's interesting how the tiny village is tucked into the folds of the mountain.

I feel a mix of respect for the grandeur and wilderness of the landscape and the peace that perspires through it. What a sense of space, with all that plain on the fg and the mountain covered with dark clouds! The flock gives much mood and it's visually very attractive, helping much the compo, along with the village.

Hello Atousa, the thumbnails don't do justice to your shots;this is an interesting shot made even better by your informative notes.
You really give us a feel for this place and the scale of it.
The line of animals is a good addition to the composition.
I like the wisps of cloud being blown over.

interesting description of this beautiful valley. I like very much the stormy sky in contrast with the green field. Excellent point of view for the sheeps resulting in perfect silhouettes as they are marching in this fine row!

Me encanta, el prado que cubre toda la tierra, y la tierra formando esas torrenteras de erosión, y en una de ellas, en un pequeño valle, protegido, se asienta una población con un pequeño bosque. Magnífica la toma y el lugar, así como el cielo; El verde demuestra que es Mayo.
