The valley of Alamoot situated to the North – East of the town of Qazvin .

The 94 large and small villages of Alamoot region are clustered around the valley.
In daylights they appear as emerald green spots and at nights shine as gem filled cups under the starry skies of Alamoot and on either side of sinuous path in the Valley and mountains.

From a geologically , the valley was formed in the Teritary period , and the mountains are of gypsiferous sediments composed of red , gray and green conglomerates with layers and veins of limestone , dolomite , granite and volcanic rocks . Which make a rainbow Color effect .

The mountains are a source of metals , minerals , sand , gravel-rock and salt , gyps which are partially exploited .


The other constituents of this mysterious and lush valley are its wild and domestic animals . Leopard , bears , boars , fox , jackal, rabbits, weasel, ibex , wild goat and birds of prey such as the rare white eagle, some species of flacon, which in local dialect is called Ala ,hence the name Alamoot , partridge and other other beautiful birds, reptiles and unique insects living around the Ovan Lake and the Bees producing the region s famous honey are all part of the special ecosystem .Animal husbandry is an important economical activity and small flocks of sheep , goats and cows have made a great impact on the regional wealth and diary products features high on family diet .
