Photographer’s Note
By the late sixth century B.C. the entire Middle East was under control of an ancient empire of Persians, led by Achaemenid dynasty. Their land stretched as far as the Mediterranean shores in the west, and modern Armenia and Uzbekistan in the east. Dimplomats and rulers from far away would come to the empire's magnificent capital Persepolis marching gracefuly up the low steps of the city's main staircase...
Not much remains of its former greatness. Destroyed by Alexander the Great who thought of Persians as his fiercest enemies, the city has never regained its importance. But as you observe the renovated bass reliefs you cannot but think of its past, so widely described in history books. Reading about it in childhood the stories sounded like legends, the names of the Kings like echoes of fair-tales rulers, and yet, they were real...

Aleksandra,
I've been looking at quite a few relief carving photos on TE lately - and I think I've become addicted. With a little cross lighting, as you have here, they do look superb.
(There's a chap calling himself "MEaT" with some really nice shots from Angkor).

Witaj Aleksandro
Doskonała kompozycja i wspaniałe ujęcie.
