First of all, plz accept my appologies for being absent for about a week, I'd been cleaning our house, for it's our new year within 18 days, Iranians celebrate their new year when the spring really begins/ in the same day.

But the picture : this time I want to tell you about our religious ceremonies.About 1324 years ago in this day, our 3rd Imam, Imam Hussain ( & 72 of his mostl loyal followers) got martyrized tyranically & in a cruel way by the rulers , you can read the whole story Here

from that day till today, we mourn his martydom in a special way, you can see: HERE
.it happened in the 10th day of Month Moharram , & at the end of these mournings which are held in 9th & 10th of Moharram ( after the sunset of this day ) we light the candles to show our respect to who remained from that bloodshed :women & children, who were lonely , humbled & captivated.....

nice informative picture thanks for sharing.

)Super Fariba !

Thanks for the note Fariba, informative as always. What strikes me is the similarity of the pictures to Christian iconography.

good shot fariba. what i most like about your postings is that they are educational and are about a recent occasion.
Good news that you're done with "khoone takooni", welcome back!

In all of Moharam ceremonies I like just "sham e Ghariban"because It performance in more silense than others and I think it's more pure!I think you could show this feeling in your pictuer.

Interesting photo and note. Unfortunatly in TE it's not very common to see photos of religious acts which are very interesting.

About your photo I like the action in it but I keep thinking that a lower POV pointing up and with you placing a bit more to the right could have enhenced the scene. The woman at the right would be nearer and her action would have more weight in the scene, the paintings would be more off-center and thus enhanced and the people at the left could form an interesting background.
