Charshanbe soori ( Wednesday Fire - The Bonfire Wednesday - Wednesday Feast )
Charshanbe soori is a festival of fire which occurs every year on the night before the last wednseday of the Persian year. Chahar Shanbeh Soori, literally means Red Wednesday, is an ancient festival, dating back to 4000 years ago since the early Zoroastrian era. Chahar Shanbeh Soori is deeply rooted in Iranians' Zoroastrian past. On Tuesday evening (the night before the last Wednesday) every family celebrates the Chahar Shanbeh Soori. All family members line up and take turns jumping safely along and over the burning piles, singing to the fire:
" Sorkheeyeh toe az man ; zardeeyeh man az toe. "
This translates to:
"Your redness (health) is mine; my paleness (pain) is yours."
