Photographer’s Note
Lour is a large tree growing on Kish Island and is characterized by a big crest, roots hanging from the trunk and large oval leaves. The most famous Lour tree is in the northern side of the Island which is 600 years old. There is a magnificent complex named Derakht-e Sabz (meaning the ever green tree) around it. The Derakht-e Sabz Park is adjacent to the historical town of Harireh, providing a pleasant atmosphere for the visitors to Harireh to relax and rest.
The cloths tied to this tree give it a sacred aura and that is exactly what some people believe. No one knows how this belief was formed and who were the first people to tie the first knots around the branches.

Our new year will begin from the first day of the spring ( 21 th March ) which is called Nowruz ( now: new ; ruz: day ) and I am going to take a few days trip to spend Nowruz holidays. Season Greetings

Salam Atousa,
It's a strange and beautiful tree, reminiscent of banyan trees I associate with my memories of Thailand. That reminiscence is enhanced by the cloths pieces tied to the trunk. We have some banyan trees in Lisboa.
You chose a good POV and I like the inclusion of the women enjoying the peace of beauty of the park. I admire the management of light, you achieved a very good exposure both in the sunned areas and in the shades without loosing contrast.
I wish you a merry Nowruz.
Regards, José.

Hi Atousa,
Wow, trees seem to be on many people's minds and palettes lately! This one is really impressive and you've captured it on film very well. I wonder if it is related to the ficus (fig)? I may not have noticed the cloths unless you mentioned it in your note, so thank you!
Happy new year to you :)
Best, Rachel

Salam Atousa
We do have many trees like this in our country where people come & make wishes by tieing threads. It's something to do with belief. This tree looks like a banyan, but interesting to see the hanging roots. Good picture and a good note as well!
Best Regards
