The diagonal view was a brilliant idea. It makes this shot original and interesting.
I like the B&W choice too

It is so odd that I like it from the first glimpse :) There is, obviously, no deep philosophy here but the idea of showing the birds in between two diagonal forms seems succesful as well as lack of other colours than B&W. Dynamic and nostalgic mood..

The combination of tilted lines and birds flying up mixes so well here. The desaturation is perfect to emphasize the shapes and movement. Simple and effective.
