Dragon attack

Another cool ceramic tile from the Takieh of Mo'aven ol-Molk (1, 2, 3 - this last one by Roshangar). Unfortunately I have no idea what this one represents, maybe it illustrates one of the pre-islamic legend, or is it Saint George and the dragon?
The Tekyeh itself doesn't have a great architecture (that's why I don't have a photo of the building itself), but its ceramic decoration is like a fabulous image book, there are all kinds of illustrations: religious scenes, pagan scenes, portraits, animals...
Tomorrow I'll start a "gore" serie, stay tuned! ;-) |

Hi,
Another nice shot from patterns on the wall in Iranian old architecting ...
well again not sure about this phot but i can tell you about its cultural history ... as Islam culturally had nothing to offer when Arabs captured Iran , Iranian culture tried to develop by getting compatible with muslim's belives ... These paitings & stories beside goes back to Iranian ancient history which is all said by poem in "Shah Name"( the poet is Ferdowsi, he lived after islam too but published a poem book about iranian ancient characters like Rostam , Sohrab , Siavash,... ) ... but after Islam some of these symbols & type of stories started to grow in the islamic shitte atmosphere , like they were used to tell war stories of first shitte Imam ( Imam Ali ) ...
but in general ... Iranian culture knows Dargon as Devil , and those guys might be muslim chracters or Iranian (Persian) ancient characters ...
Ferdowsi :
Book : Shah Name ( one of the greatest poem books ever been created in the whole history of Iran & world , the main character of his book was called ROSTAM )
Tomb : Toos in Mashhad .

MOhammad said every story about this ceramic. Well done Philippe.
