Silk Road: Orumieh
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Travels on the Silk Road:
The ancient Silk Road passed from Trebzon/Turkey to Täbris/Iran and passed through Orumieh at the lake of the same name. Part of the lake has become a National park that includes the island visible on the horizon. The picture has been taken on Gamichi island.
The lake has a high sodium salt concentration, floating crystals indicate saturation. The only living things in the water are a Diatomean alga and a crustacean, Artemia salina, of which I have a shot posted in the Workshop area.
This slide had to be scanned, the picture processed in Photoshop (getting rid of a grainy sky by blurring; straightening; colour correction; stamping out smudges; sharpening of the lower half; increasing saturation by 12% to compensate for loss when posting it). |
