The heat is blistering in the south, on the edge of the Great Desert. High chimneys acting as air-vents bring some comfort to these dwellings.Before you see the garden or even the walls of the house, from hundreds of meters away and some streets away from that spot, you can see the tallest wind catcher of the mansion inside the garden. This traditional air-conditioning system of local houses around the desert in Iran is the essential elements at the residential structures. However, the exaggerated grand size of this wind catcher functioned perfectly well. ( يزد - باغ دولت آباد )

Thats a new architectural feature to me! I guess living in Northern Europe, we dont need to worry much about cooling buildings down, so this is not something I would see in buildings in places I visit, but its very cool to learn of this through your post. I love how it rises above the trees like this, it definitely seems like a statement of some sort as to the home below.
There is a beautiful array of trees on display here too.
