Photographer's Note

About The Location:
I really enjoy looking at old buildings. These houses are distributed in different locations of Tehran. I take their pictures whenever I passing by.
This location belongs to an old area which is near to Bazar.
The exact address is Miniriyyeh Square, Abu Saeed Boulevard.

Motivation:
One day afternoon I was going to Tehran's Old Bazar which located on the southern and old district of Tehran on the back seat of a taxi. When taxi stopped behind the red light I looked at my left where these two houses where located. Like a twin because their architectures are the same but in two colors, they are painted by municipal department of Tehran. I named this picture SIDE by SIDE hope I could express my feelings when you look at it.
Fortunately when I pointed my camera to them one of typical Bazar carrier man with his pushcart was in my frame.

P.P. Job:
What I did was: adjusting +25% in contrast, the light -9%, resizing and framing in Photoshop CS2.

Hey Javad,

Love would be the wrong word here. The cart and cars are a nessisary evil of caputuring urban life.

The question that has been on my mind for some time is.... Should we sacrafice style for economics? It is cheap to keep reproducing the same building over and over again changing little more than the colour. Is the money enough of a reason to do this, or have we just run out of new ideas?

I think the tree-lined street helped soften the stark architecture of the houses thus creating an instant appeal to these old colourful buildings. Well captured daily scene. TFS

Beautiful picture. My father was an Armenian who was born in Tehran and he has a picture identical to this, great work I love the color of the buildings, especially the orange one.
