Photographer’s Note

In my first trip in Iran (Persia) I found out how big our misconception is for these people. All were saying to me: We are Persians not Arabs. The people on this land are friendly with a genuine interest in you. They all are well educated, knowledgeable and with a big smile.
Those lovely looking persian-girls, typical Aryans (white skin and many times with green eyes) were happy to pose me when I lifted my camera to shoot them, outside Persepolis.

Shiraz is known as the poetic capital of Persia, because two of the greatest poets of the world, Hafez (1324-1391) and Sa'di (1209-1291), come from this city. Sa'di, the traveler saw a great part of the world before he finally settled in Shiraz, where he died. Hafez on the other hand, except for one very short journey, never even left his city.

"My soul is a scared bird, the highest heaven is nest
Fretting within its body-bars, if finds on earth its nest
When rising from its dusty heap this bird of mine would soar
'Twin find upon the lofty gate the nest it had before" (my bird, Hafez)
