Photographer’s Note
A caravanserai (Persian: كاروانسرا) was a roadside inn where travelers could rest and recover from the day's journey. Caravanserais supported the flow of commerce, information, and people across the network of trade routes covering Asia, North Africa, and South-Eastern Europe.
Most typically it was a building with a square or rectangular walled exterior (Amin Abad and Dihbid), with a single portal wide enough to permit large or heavily laden beasts such as camels to enter. The courtyard was almost always open to the sky, and the inside walls of the enclosure were outfitted with a number of identical stalls, bays, niches, or chambers to accommodate merchants and their servants, animals, and merchandise.Caravanserais provided water for human and animal consumption, washing, and ritual ablutions. Sometimes they even had elaborate baths. They also kept fodder for animals and had shops for travellers where they could acquire new supplies. In addition, there could be shops where merchants could dispose of some of their goods.
The word is also rendered as caravansarai

Hi Fara,
I am back : )
Beautiful stunning light ... great perspective and depth .. wonderful tone .. all these elements combine to amplify the thoughtfulness of the ancient rune .. If you don't know the song with the same name as your image .. by Loreena McKennitt off her album "An Ancient Muse" .. well worth your time. Truly wonderful image .. take care, John

Fara: a fine minimalist landscape - it would be a fine candidate for the 'large post' category. best, c

Hi Fara,
Your perfectly captured photo invites to travel there with its splendid colors. Panoramic crop worked very well and it helps a lot for extended depth while using road tracks. Silhouettes of mountains and sky are wonderful. Congratulations.
Best Regards,

Hi Fara,
I like this shot. The long roadway cutting across the image really helps to establish place and depth. The wide panorama view works reall well here and the sky is great. Well done and TFS. Gerald

hello fara
excellent landscape shot, in my opinion. the sandy road leading to the horizon, the caravanserai on the side, the gliding light and not to the least - the cloud play in the sky. i bet, the scenery was pretty much the same 2000 or 3000 yeas ago... thanks for sharing, friend.
regards,
kristaps
