Bam city center. The city was rebuilt after the earthquake of 2003. Buildings are still made of brick, but now with a metal frame. Beautiful light after a storm ; otherwise, air is often marred by dust raised by wind. Tourists are fewer than before the earthquake, but all the more welcome.
The ancient citadel was only partially rebuilt, because although UNESCO contributed to the reconstruction of monuments after World War II, its current rules prohibit to rebuild completely a classified site that has undergone only natural damage.

Kia ora Monique (greetings from New Zealand),
An interesting photo. I was lucky enough to visit the Bam citadel in 1979, well before the earthquake 7 I remember the old mudbrick town very well. It's great to see how it has been rebuilt. Cheers, Neil
