if you have visited this place you could see carved lotus as a main symbol of that era... beside that stone flowers there are some desert flowers. So i think this is a attractive companion and can explain the history...

A very nice close up shot from combination of the flowers from Persepolis left intact from 450 BC! It is interesting to know the curved on the stone flower has 12 pebbles in which represents the number of months in a year. That leads us to believe the calendar was already established in 450 BC.
