I am about to leave for another middle east adventure, this time to Yemen. I’ve chosen this photo as Iran and Yemen are connected for me. When I was deciding last year where to go for spring holiday I really wanted to visit Yemen, however due to its not very popular reputation and possible kidnapping I didn’t feel really comfortable. Iran was always high on my list and I’ve chosen to go there instead (some people would wonder if it was actually safer option).

As I live in middle east now, my view on middle east and its security and safety has changed, so even it is bit out of my comfort zone, I have made the decision to visit Yemen. I truly cannot wait and I hope I will have plenty of fantastic photos to share with you.

As this is my last post in 2007, I would like to wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Lucie

hi lucie
just like always in your gallery a spectacular view:)
congratulation ,the soft colors make me dream to such landscape
wish you Merry Christmas also
best regards,anes

Yes Merry Christmas and good travelling to you too Lucie. May many more drama filled photos leave your camera! This one is a little surreal I think. Those figures appear as in a dream. Not quite real in a "melting" landscape. Regards Paul

Hello Lucie,

Incredible making is very good, that these dimensions are dunes!! A frame and an excellent approach, beautiful picture.
Greetings Jose

I like the way they twist and turn and those colours are magnificent. The two people also highlight the size of these dunes. great composition

Hello Lucie,

This is so beautiful! And the square format fits your composition very well. I love the fact that you included some people in the picture. It gives us a sens of the size of those sand dunes. The wonderful light created great prolonged shadows. Well done! Thank you!

With Friendly Regards,
Eddie

Hello Lucie,

Beautiful place in the desert, the shadows give nice contrasts... I like your choice of square format !

Regards,
Stéphanie.

Dag Lucie,
Lady of the desert, that's what you are. Your fascination to the sand and the play with light is truly wonderful in how you capture this with your own pair of eyes. Here the shadows and the two people below make the extra these kind of images need...beautiful.
Take care in Yemen, be careful..!!!
Groetjes, Henk

Hi Lucie,

the persons in the foreground are perfect to have an idea about the scale of the dunes. Thanks also for the note, it´s also my opinion. We are influenced by media, but we should count on the friendly, hospitable and helping people in these countries.
Have a nice Xmas and a wonderful trip !
Cheers Chris

Unusual framing
Good colors, nice composition and curves too...

excellent. that's all i can say

Wow, beautiful shot Lucie! The dunes have such a smooth texture to them, it makes them very seductive! Great lighting shows the shape of the dunes very well, and of course the people at the bottom of the frame add that all important human element. Excellent work, and Merry Christmas!

Hello Lucie,

Very graphical shot ! Colors, contrast and framing are very goot too.
The two people in the bottom of your picture give a good idea on the proportion of sand dunes.
Congratulation and thank for sharing !

Regards,
Damien.

It is a so sharp, so simple, so clean picture ... The dunes, their colors, their shadows and the 2 little silhouettes remind me furiously paintings of Tanguy and Dali.
A space where everything could appear at any moment... and where the time has no limit.

Great

Hello Lucie,
no words for your shot...the world is a great place but it looks even greater through your lens...
you're my favorite (Isa will be jealous maybe, Anes too and Flory, but what can I do?)
please take care in Yemen. Keep opening your eyes and our mind.
Enjoy your trip, and I wish you all the best for Christmas and New Year.

Jérôme

Hi Lucie,
as usual your images are eye-catching and the strong contrast of the shadows on the sand designe pretty well the sweet curves of the dunes.

Great minimalistic feeling in this one, Lucie!!
I love the colours as well.
Cheers, r.

Very interesting. I was in Iran quite recently, too, and saw the desert near Yazd - my experience wasn't nearly as colorful as yours, or, more likely, I simply failed to take such good photos of it. Nice composition and great colors.

Hello Lucie,
I like the deep deep shadows in this desert scene; and the sand really glows with heat.Good to see the people for scale purposes.
Wonderful shot.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hello Lucie,

Thanks for your visit on my photo of Mauritania. I thinks it is the first time we met on TE.
To answer you, we have exchange some infos with Mistral before going in Mauritania, but we practice the travel each on his side. I will start again next to post my other photo of this interesting country.
As I see, you are also interested in the desert countries. I find this photo very graphical, playing nicely with the shapes of the curves and the shadow. Moreover the putting in the frame on the people gives the idea of the scale, but their are still remaining a detail of this landscape. It is something I like to practice also.

Yves.

Hi Lucie,

Those golden colour tones are just wonderful.
Amazing how there is one tiny ridge with grasses growing on it. Good idea to include those people to have a sense of dimensions.

Love the square crop and presentation.
