Sea Caves of Georgios

This is one of the natural rock sea caves which is nearby in St George's Bay, Paphos. I loved the geology and rock strata in this area. To the north of this region is the Akamas, one of Cyprus's last remaining wilderness areas. This is largely thanks, if that's quite the right word, to British commandos who used it for many years as a firing range.

Its relative remoteness and the lack of roads have also kept the crowds away. It is now a favourite target for hikers and there are four major hiking trails that run through the northern part of the region. It is also a major attraction for botanists with more than 600 plant species, 35 of them found only here.

Man this image is really cool and really bizarre. I have never seen this effect in water in these bright conditions. I knew straight away that you had used an ND filter for quite a unique look. How strong was the filter?

Very impressive shot. Although we are used to seeing the sea treated in this way on TE, this landscape still stands out a mile with its fantasticaly deatiled, and shaped, rock landscape and, perhaps crucially, the cave.

An unusual image Stephen, we're used to seeing the effect on the water shot either early in the morning or late in the afternoon with the colours of the rising/setting sun in the sky... This is different in that you managed this somewhere in midday, you must've used quite a dark ND to get this fantastic result? Composition, sharpness, clarity, colours and all the rest really great, as is often the case with your shots!
