Paphos Lighthouse - Cyprus

This is a disused lighthouse which stands above a Roman amphitheater in Paphos (amazing). It is situated afew hundred meters from the sea and this is my HDR attempt to capture while shooting into the sun.

Although the enclosed site opens at 8am (and sunrise at 6am )I noticed an opening around the back ;) and I hurried my way to its summit with minites to spare.

Later in the morning I captured some nice shots from the other side with the spring flowers and amphitheater beneath it. BTW Anyone interested in birds(feathered kind) would have a great time here as I never seen so many beautiful little birds in one place.

Hello Stephen
did you use a filter, or several exposures for that one?
great dynamic here, the sky and the tower are well exposed.

Hi Stephen,
Very nice shot. The composition is very well done, there are nice colours (I love this blue gate on the wall) and a wonderful light. That's not Ireland or Scotland, but that's very nice anyway !

Olivier

Hi Stephen,
I like a lot that lighthouse, an old one or seem's to be. The photo is very well balanced with the lighthouse on the left, the blue gate on the wall, yellow flowers on the grass. All the foreground is very good and highlighting by the sunset colors of the sky. A very good marine landscape in ..Cyprus! seem's to be in Brittany or Ireland! Very good work!
Best regards,
Olivier

Hi Stephen,
A beautiful sunrise shot with exceptional light managment and perfect exposure results. Very well seen and presented. TFS. Gerald

Hi Stephen, very excellent light and colour seen in this shot of the lighthouse. Very excellent timing (and clandestine efforts) to capture this shot at sunrise. I like the lighthouse of course, but I like it's positioning too, with the light coming around to the right with the grass and dandelions, and that great stone fence and tree. All very nicely presented.

Thanks, John

I know this spot well Stephen, and have some shots from the pov of the amphetheatre in the foreground with the lighthouse behind - thought it a rather surreal view at the time. The HDR has worked well, it's not over the top with that cartoony look some folk go for.
The blue disgarded gate is a welcome addition

Craig

G'day Stephen!
Great lights in this shot: there's something very photographic and endearing about lighthouses as subject matter. I like the carpet of little yellow flowers, too.

Thanks for sharing,
Best wishes,
Jeff

Great shot! I think you did a wonderful job with the difficult light conditions, getting some colour in the sky while at the same time managing to show some details in the foreground and the lighthouse. This is a good addition to your collection!

An excellent moment. I think you have done very well capturing it in HDR. I've seen some HDR compositions that were looking rather unrealistic, this one is great. Well done.
