[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was shot on a vacation to Cyprus, the water front in Larnaca was beautiful. This palm sort of reminded me of a pinaple so I thought I'd share it...

This day I was broke, and had little to do, so I walked the promenad and shot as much of the landscape as possible. A good way for a tourist to pass the time...

I scanned the negative with a minolta film scanner, and croped and ajusted the color and contrast. The horizon is a bit of, but I decidet to leave it like this...

Clever composition. You're right about the horizon, and it is a little distracting, but not too much. The image is fairly noisy though, perhaps for technical reasons relating to your scan.

Great image though! Thank you for sharing it.

A funny palm tree. Comparison with a pineapple is nice.

I do not mind the horizon but you could crop the bottom part, the road is not so interesting.

All the best,

Emmanuel

Nice and interesting tree there.

I believe unlike what someone else said that the road is needed in the shot. mainly because the road is need to tie into the pattern and symetry of the road, sand, water and sky. The 4 stages are in it's own right a passage and is really effective.

Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Halgeir,
This is a wonderful composition with beautiful colours and I like it a lot. I read the note so accept a slight tilt to the horizon.
What disappointed me were some of the technical aspects of the pic. On the left is an area from off the side of the photo that needs to be cropped off. Also, the noise (which I see others have mentioned) is a little too obvious, particularly in the sky but one of the easiest things to correct, that would have made a big difference, would be to ensure your scanner is clean and free of debris before you use it. Even in this pic, it's quite obvious.
Keep trying, my friend. I'm sure that, with practice, your image quality will improve. Please don't be too disappointed though... I think back to the poor quality of my early postings... :-(
You still get a Big Green Smiley.... for ENCOURAGEMENT! :-)

Best wishes,
Tony

Pinapple anyone?
Very simple composition, but still very good.
Your placing of the "pinapple" is the obvious point of focus, but nevertheless I can't help staring off into the ocean... as if something is about to arrive from there.
Very vibrant colours.
Thanks for sharing.

its simple picture with nice colours and a sense of humour with the pinapple sitting there in a contrasting form. I am a fan of blue, gray and beig together, so i had to save the picture if it is okay with you :)

A little bit grainy but I love the Situation. And the great distance in the picture makes it look like a pinapple with a broken heart staring out on the ocean:)

Hei,

Nice photo, the horizon is a little of, but I don't think that it is to bad. I like the composition and the colors. TFS.
