‘Famagusta - A breath of wind in the evening sun’

A breath of wind caresses the palmleaves in the evening sun. The low position of the sun creates nice warm tones on the dome of the church, on the palm leaves and in the sky.

All visitors have left already for their hotel, most probably somewhere in another town.
Only at daytime we see tourists in the old town of Famagusta. Even quite a few.

But now there remain only the two of us and we decide to have dinner in one of the three eateries on the central square in the walled old town. Being the only ones in the restaurant, we are especially spoiled by the owner. It was a good idea to stay in Famagusta for the night.

Now that most of Europe is plagued by a cold wave, I decided to upload a sunny spring picture. The photo is taken in the walled town of Famagusta and shows the ruins of the small late-Byzantine church Agios Nikolaos.

rester quand les touristes sont partis est évidemment le meileur moment, celui où on peut profiter seuls de la beauté des lieux, et ceci sous la plus belle des lumières. Et si en plus, ça se termine par un bon repas sur place, c'est encore mieux.La photo est belle, avec de splendides couleurs, et le cadrage est excellent.

Hello Paul,
this is a wonderful composition, I would also call it "the power of silence". The ruined church and the lovely lonely tree filling the sky, simple and telling. The colours are extraordinary as if pale and strong at once. The use of light and sharpness are great, there's a sense of space around the church and we can even have a glimpse of the inside. There's a strange effect, shadows are elliminated. Beautiful but sad, very effective picture.

Hi Paul,
beautiful composition. I like the combination of this little structure and the charming palm tree. Great light! Your processing was brilliant although I would suggest one more thing: increasing simply the contrast.
I know it may sound as a counterproductive to apply the contrast after you just did the opposite thing (HDR) but it really works miracles. In any case the atmosphere which you have captured here is amazing.
