The End of the Rainbow, a photo from Paphos, West

Lucky us! We had just finished quite a long walk on the Akamas Peninsula, and got back to the taverna just before the heavens opened. It was still pouring when I took this photograph from the relative dryness of the taverna verandah (there were a lot of buckets deployed to catch the leaks), but the sun was already fighting back, giving a Jekyll and Hyde feel to the weather. The rainbow was amazingly strong, and seemed close. The gold at the foot of the rainbow can be seen very clearly here. But I didn't go to get it...

The Akamas Peninsula in the extreme NW of the island is one of the few wilderness areas left on Cyprus, and even that is criss-crossed by jeep tracks. But still worth a visit before the developers move in.

Will, it almost looks as though the end of the rainbow is that illuminated treetop at lower right! Great view and framing, with a really impressive rainbow shot - not sure I've ever seen a view looking *down* at a rainbow before!

If the truth of the legend says that at the end of the rainbow is a pot of gold hidden, you have found it in the turquoise waters of the sea. Tree and flower agave beautiful close image. I love the atmosphere of the Mediterranean. Excellent quality and wonderful colors of the image.

Very well taken and framed by branches of the tree, beautiful composition from Mediterranean Sea. The picture with the rainbow is fantastic, but your note is really very interesting. Thanks for sharing

Hi Will,
A rare and beautiful thing,a rainbow, but even more so to see its end like this. It almost seems to be getting absorbed into the plant where it ends. Beautiful framing with the tree brand, and I really like the strong shadows on the water too.

How good that you had your camera with you to record this moment!
The elements are nicely collected; the rainbow commands immediate attention and, of course, we look for the pot of gold, but, then, there is plenty of time to appreciate the overhanging branches, competing with the rainbow and helping, with the addition of the small island, to create a sense of depth.

Hi Will,
the rainbow in here is the strongest eye catching factor and you managed to capture it very well with all its colors and light. Nice framing, too.
I like the color of the sea - looks quite unusual with its greenish shade.
