Good Morning Everyone,
Three very different textures and colours in close proximity.
The closest is the wall of a farmhouse, the middle is the roof of an old cottage, the last is the tall spire of St. Mary's Church, all closely connected in the village of Piercebridge.
The three buildings abut a partially excavated Roman fort, which was once established here, and was probably the reason why this settlement occurred. In fact, most of the buildings in Piercebridge are situated on the foundations of the Roman fort, a reason why more of it cannot be excavated.
Have a lovely day, Bev :-)

A cleverly composed image that makes excellent use of the strong graphical lines offered by the architecture. As you point out, we also have the benefit of some stark contrasts in colour and texture. Excellent technical presentation. I like it a lot.

Les lignes de différentes couleurs et textures qui se croisent dans l'image ont un petit côté graphique très intéressant.L'effet est accentué par les belles couleurs bien saturées.

Lovely combination of colour and texture with height variation and angles beautifully presented. I have always loved the red from those pantile roofs, they lift the ordinary into something special.

This are the first lessons for young architects, on one picture different lines in perspective..
You create a wonderful depth and perspective picture
Excellent archtecture picture too.
Wonderful composition, excellent presentation.
Very well done, TFS.

a real photographers image this one. A meeting of lines and elements that come together both artistically and effectively. Like it!

Hello Beverley ,
Excellent capture , both interesting for the architectural détails , and for the graphical effect . Good choice of framing and perfect exposure .

Good evening Beverly,
Diagonal lines of the roof-tops, and the perfect cone of the tower right where the lines converged made a beautiful POV on.
The red roof-tiles and white plaster contrast the blue sky aloft.
I also see 3 diff. building style in a narrow place, and if taking the new tiles - maybe 4 styles.
Nicely spotted, well done.

bien vu! un mélange de couleurs et de textures très intéressant. C'est presque une oeuvre abstraite.

A very nice composition to get these textures and colors colliding like, and again a testament to your eye as a photographer. Many (most) would pass this without a second glance, but you have spotted and perfectly composed this wonderful abstract under wonderful light.
Thanks as always

You chose a very good and correct title for this photo. I am glad you also mention the colours :-). You could have added the meeting of a lot of diagonals, which also contribute greatly to this interesting composition. It is, in a way, extremely basic, but you made a very good observation and managed a quite refined photo, very well balanced, and with nicely saturated and vivid colours.

Strong leading lines and vibrant colors. Mix and match does work out strongly. Excellent!

A very good observation and a very pleasant cooperation between the different surfaces here. The spire is perfectly placed in the composition. The different textures and colours are in a pleasant harmony too. A well observed picture.

Oh, wait...I mean, Bev! :) I couldn't help but notice the forum note with Noel, ahhh, that was a good laugh.
I would suggest you've actually comprised four different textures within this composition, the sky itself plays a big role too in my opinion. This is a wonderful example of a keen awareness and that photographic eye that not everyone possesses. It's brilliantly simple, and so very effective.
Lines, shapes, patterns and textures...this one speaks to my senses in a big way, I love it! And the best thing about this compilation is that it's completely organic in nature, nothing predetermined or manufactured. Smart observation and well arranged. Have a great day ahead. All the best.

Indeed this is a very interesting take with the graphic effect quite strong. The straight lines in diagonals of the roof lines as also the steeple makes this quite interesting...and yes the textures, mostly of the stones and the roof tiles add another interesting domension to this picture. Well done!

very well spotted combination of patterns. Nice geometry and pleasant vibrant colors. I like to search for compositions like this although in the end I usually show a more postcard like picture.
You had obviously a great sky!
Regarding Roman forts I hope really to visit finally some of the Hadrian's Wall sites which I never did...
My daughter is still sick I will spare you the details but we thought it is better but it came back again. I hope she is on her way to recover.
The future is still quite uncertain for us. First of all there is some probability that we will move again. But even if not, our life standard is at the moment getting worse. We really have to count every pound now and I have to forget about vacations or even cut down local trips this year. Everything may change but at the moment prospects are not very optimistic. That is why I am not sure if I manage to come and I did not want to promise anything.
