... On each of the shorter sides of the courtyard are porticos which are, perhaps, the most beautiful and harmonius in all the Alhambra. Each has seven semi-circular arches, the central one being higher, and, spreading above, is the typical decoration of fretwork plaster panelling called sebka.

Supporting these arches are the best examples to be found of capitals carved with mocárabes. The galleries behind the porticos are covered with wooden ceilings with lazo decoration and small cupolas. At each end are alcoves with mocárabes and slightly raised above the ground; these are called alhamies...
