Hotel Porta Fira wins the 2010 Emporis proclaimed as the best skyscraper in the world in front of the Burj Dubai, among others. The avant-garde building in red is located in Barcelona and has been designed by renowned Japanese architect Toyo Ito. The design of the Porta Fira Hotel Toyo Ito Santos was inspired by the organic form of a lotus flower.

Incredible building, though I often wonder how practical and user-friendly these architectural avant-garde buildings are.

The light on the upper levels gives the bending nicely.

As a nit-picking, the focus seems to be a little off, IMHO, especially on the lower floors where my eyes first started to stare at.

I think I prefer this more minimalist version even more than yesterday's upload! Maybe just a small crop at left so the tower is right on the 1/3 axis. All else is perfect! Tfs!

Hello Juan - Interesting note, I was wondering what the inspiration was for this extraordinary building was. To me it looks like a tight sheath dress on a shapely woman! A gorgeous shot, graphic in style with excellent detailing. The refection of the blue sky in the windows add extra impact to the architecture. Warm regards Rosemary

Retourner un jour à Barcelone, c'est certainement l'hôtel que je choisirais pour mon séjour.Juste pour voir l'intérieur qui doit être aussi extravagant que l'extérieur.

Red and Blue, perfect combination of color, the red is well saturated and stand out so perectly again the blue sky. Great shot with strong graphic image. Love the blue in the reflected windows.

WOw, this fiery red building is very attractive. Love the glow on the sides and its odd shape. The inclusion of the name and placing it at the bottom of the frame is clever! You should sell this to them! Nice color contrast and clear view. As usual, a superb photograph!
