Óbidos

Town Gate
It is the main entrance to the castle. Here, one can admire an oratory with a balcony covered with 18th century tiles representing the Passion of Christ. One can find the inscription referring to the Patroness Saint of Óbidos, Our Lady of Sorrow, stating the following: “The Virgin, Our Lady was conceived without original sin”.
There are also two interesting details at the Town Gate are: the painted ceiling, recently restored, representing a crown of thorns; and the double doors typical of Portuguese Castles.

C'est une architecture avec des motifs de couleurs tout à fait originaux.

Está um espectáculo esta varanda, Gonçalo. Até parece um HDR...tal é a qualidade dos pormenores/texturas e cores vivas. Quase nem reconheci o sítio. Passa-se facilmente aqui sem olhar para aqueles azulejos fantásticos, mas a tua foto fá-los impossíveis de passarem despercebidos. Muito boa, também com as pessoas e a velhota no canto a bordar.

Hello Gonçalo, you've captured a nice view of the main entrance of lovely Obidos. In my personal opinion, it could even be much better if you had not included the white sky at top in the composition.

Minha prima que mora aí perto fez o maior suspense antes que eu visse essa entrada de Óbidos e foi uma ótima ideia dela, pois o lugar é impressionantemente belo à primeira vista, uma surpresa logo de início!

Whats that activity at the right corner of the frame ? - quite a place to work under painted ceilings..you were getting 1/25 at 3.5..gosh the light was really bad..ideal would have been and f8-10..but what could you do ?

But the low shutter has thrown satisfactory results..i like it

nice the view of the oratory with the balcony, seeing someone visiting the town gate. But i wonder if the yellow colour is real, especially on the pedestrian floor, or the scene is oversaturate from the yellow colour?

Really an interesting corner of this castle. The decorations and frescoes in the arch are so pleasant and photogenic and even alone can make a fine composition. But the scene is also interesting for the presence of the people epecially that lady vendor sitting at the right. Fine textures of the walls and pavement. A good presentation and introduction to this castle and ciy.

Very impressive architecture photo and a great daily life scene at the same time! Great composition and framing, great light management and beautiful colours! There is some perspective distortions, but in front of that beauty I ignore that.

o destaque para grande-angulares fica para a impressionante amplitude oferecida mesmo em ambientes restritos como este.

Ainda não tinha visto esta imagem de Óbidos. Excelente imagem do portão principal, com o lindo oratório no alto, decorado com belos azulejos pintados. Excelente captura, cores magníficas, ótima nitidez.

Beautiful ornamentation and artwork adjacent to the gate. Like the designs created by the cobbled stone path, they seem to reflect the blue and yellow tones. Perhaps you could have cropped the OE sky at the top IMHO. But a nice picture anyway!
