Photographer’s Note

MY HUNDREDTH! Well, I took my time, but I finally got there, and enjoyed every day spent on TE!
As it's now December and time to post your letters to Santa, I thought I would provide you with a special letter box for your special mail. 0:))
The UK is well-known for its traditional red pillar-boxes, but this one is particularly special, as it dates back to Queen Victoria, which was the time of the first letter boxes.
Notice the ornate style, different from the more recent ones, which I will also show in WS.
The sign under the collection board stands for "Victoria Regina".
The photo was taken in the grounds of the beautiful gothic Worcester Cathedral.
In WS, I have added pillar boxes erected under all the sovereigns since Queen Victoria.

Bonjour Marie-Louise,

C'est donc une véritable pièce de collection cette boîte aux lettre, compte tenu des précisions de ta note intéressante. Effectivement une photo de circonstance puisqu'il va falloir penser faire sa lettre au P.N et en plus la couleur est de circonstance... Bravo pour ta 100ième et merci pour tous les compléments toujours intéressants. Alors à bientôt pour la 200ième.

Very nice post! Congratulations on your 100th post. I love the stong red colour. The the green lawn and green leaves of the trees do perhaps not send the message that it is now time send letters to Santa Claus. However it is a good reminder to all of us that it time to send Christmas greetings. TFS and have nice evening!

congratulation on your 100th post:)
maybe I should write a letter to Santa and put it in this letter box?;) I've never written a letter to Santa Claus...

This photo seems to be the best of all the three (including the two in the WS) though they all show letter boxes of different places. Anyway this box seems to be taken care of better than the others!

I like the composition with three different objects placed in different parts of the photo. Very good quality: colours, contrast, sharpness! looks like the day was not sunny (which helped avoid strong contrast light). In this case it's a plus, I think...
Interesting notes, too (including the WS notes)!

muy nteresante trabajo, con los workshops que has subido enriqueces tu trabajo, ademas la nota es fabulosa y en si la fot es genial. Me gusan los oclores brillantes, el minimalismo, los detalles del trabajo y lo bine tomada de la foto. Ademas muchas felicidades por tu foto. Ojala y sigas subiendo muchas mas y nos ensenes lasbellezas que puedes sacar de tu camara y de tu talento.

Félicitations pour votre centième publication !
Conversations épistolaires, missives secrètes, mots doux enflammés, ou des lettres écrites au Père Noël,... La lettre garde une saveur romanesque incontestable.
Les boîtes aux lettres à la couleur rouge sont visibles de loin. Mais qu'en est-il des bornes d'incendie (poteaux, piquets) quant à leur couleur ? ;o))
Images intéressantes qui apprennent sur la vie quotidienne en Angleterre.

Félicitations pour l'évènement!
Comme d'habitude, tu a choisi un thème original et très intéressant. Le PdV est super bien, avec le pilier rouge balancé par la boite de poubelles et la base du de la statue qu'on ne voit pas.
Je n'avais pas encore vue un pilier boite à lettres comme cela, avec des arêtes, en lieu de ronde. Tu sais qu'au Portugal elles étaient exactement comme les anglaises, mais je crois qu'il restent très peu d'elles. En fait, au Portugal il n'y a pas presque de boites à lettres dehors les bureaux de poste.
Avec les WS's, tu présentes une belle collections de piliers.

Bonjour Marie-Louise,
Il y a longtemps que je n'envoie plus de lettres au Père Noël, uniquement parce que je ne suis pas assez sage, puisqu'il ne m'apporte plus rien, mais j'y crois dur comme fer.
Félicitations pout ta première centaine de photos, toutes agréables et faites avec esprit. Bravo donc pour cette borne postale façon anglaise.

A century deserves congratulations. And what an apposite photo to mark this occasion and the time of year. The inimitable British letter box. I just love the ornate look, and those pebbles around the base! Very good photo, creating a nice trio of letter box, memorial to the Boer War and litter bin. I like to see the three elements of the photo: the monument, the letter box and the litter box.
José (stego) is correct: in Portugal there are letter boxes similar to the British. And there were also telephone booths similar.
We still have also smaller letter boxes, like that in my picture Dead Moorish Woman - Moura Morta.

Bonjour Exquise Marie Louise
En tant que postier, je peux dire qu'Internet contribue à la future disparition de la Poste, une grande partie des usagers préfèrent utiliser le courriel sans timbres qui arrive à destination en un millionième de secondes aux confins du monde.
Je déplore que la Poste Française ne fait pas concurence aux fournisseurs d'accès Internet, c'est une grave erreur stratégique.
Il existe des boites jaunes en Angleterre avec l'inscription LITTERS, mon épouse a failli déposer du courrier dans une poubelle :)

Olá Marie Louise. Beautiful letter-box you show us here. You pov is great to showing the nice details of it with great clarity and sharpness. Colors are nice too, speially the strong red from the letter-box.
