Photographer’s Note
Yesterday I went back to one of my favorite point of views in Edinburgh, Calton Hill.
It was very cold, very windy and towards the end, very wet. But hey, I had a great view! I hope I managed to capture it well enough.
P.S. I am still working on my Italy pictures........

Hi Blair,
You keep on trying here and i can only have respect for that. The place itself is very interesting. But for me the center part doesn't work at all. It's like a big black hole which is a real pity, because that building on the left looks damn good, just as the castle and not forget the sky on top which is really good. The bottom part is also not bad in the exposure, but maybe you have to focus more on the left and top and forget the bottom and center part. I know, it's easier said than done, but when i look at the left where that building and the street are placed i think you can get much more out from this scenery....
Have a nice weekend, Henk
p.s.
you forgot the first line..."oh by the way, which ones pink ;-)

Hi Blair,
another nice nightshot! I really like the illuminated building on the left, which looks great. But the middle section is a bit underexposed, difficult exposure situation I guess. The building on the left hand side is perfectly exposed, but the middle is quite dark. You could have only tried to shoot different exposures and merge them to HDR, which can sometimes be quite useful at night, though it`s not my favorite technique...
But the colors in the sky and this building are real eyecatchers, I keep looking at it!
Take care
Mark
PS: Congrats on your new lens!

Hi Blair,
Too bad about this big black hole, the municipal authorities should really invest a few (thousands) bucks here, your photo is well taken but suffers from this. How about a closer framing of just the castle against this sky ?
Have a nice day JY

I see it was very difficult: the sky is still partially bright and it was hard to get city details right, but I like the result very much.
Composition is really great and the sky colors are perfect.
It is a bit pity that in the center there is a black hole, but still I would not change anything.

Hi Blair,
I had almost the same view from my hotel room 10 days ago :) you just have some more buildings on the left side as the hill is located farther than my hotel was.
nice colored sky.

didier
