Photographer’s Note

But that's not the most important in the picture...the most important is "Edinburgh Castle"....with good weather!!!! It was amazing!!! The first rays of sun and good weather in 10 days!!!! Oh my good...it was unbelievable!!!! Of course, I couldn't resist to take two or three pictures of that lovely moment.

About the picture...obviously, the Castle of the fascinating Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Castle is an ancient stronghold which dominates the sky-line of the city of Edinburgh from its position atop Castle Rock. It is Scotland's second-most-visited tourist attraction. Human habitation of the site is dated back as far as the 9th century BC. As it stands today though, few of the castle's structures pre-date the Lang Siege of the 16th century, with the notable exception of St Margaret's Chapel, the oldest surviving building in Edinburgh, which dates from the early 12th century.

As with all castles, Edinburgh's fortress has been a centre of military activity. As an ancient fortress, Edinburgh Castle is one of the few that still has a military garrison, albeit for largely ceremonial and administrative purposes. The New Barrack Block is now home to the official headquarters of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and 52 Infantry Brigade, as well as home to the regimental museum of the Royal Scots and Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. The Governor of Edinburgh Castle is Major General David MacDowall, GOC of the British Army's 2nd Division. The Governor of the Castle has always been the head of the Army in Scotland. Direct administration of the castle by the War Office only came to an end in 1923 when the army formally moved to the city's new Redford Barracks. Nevertheless, the Castle continues to have a strong connection with the Army. Sentries still stand watch at the castle gatehouse after opening hours, with responsibility for guarding the Honours of Scotland.

Yes, I like it very much. And under a nice sky it really looks very pretty. However, all that people does not seam very interested about the weather and the castle. Something else was going on at that same moment. What was it?

I like how you show us these impressive walls with all these people around. I also like the different structures of the stones and the contrast in colours between the wally and the vivid sky. You managed the difficult light very well!

The Edinburgh Casle reminds of spectres and conspiracies in the old times, contrarily and in a rarely found occasion however, you took the place under a beautiful light. You were lucky! And thanks for this comprehensive photo.

nice and impressive castle structure, could be nice to see a wider view showing more of the city below on the left. Well exposed for the building but the cloud over the castle is overexposed.

Build by people and visit by people. A great building, impressive and with strong lines in the composition. People add nice detail for scaling but it are the lines here what makes the most impression...

Your definitely had better weather in Edinburgh than I did on my visit.
Your composition is great showing the curving walkway to lead the eye through the shot. The people give the scene a nice sense of scale. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

Hello Oscar,
the castle is really impressive! It looks very impregnable and grand. How many people are there around it! Amazing... But these people brighten the image a little, because the castle seems a bit gloomy, despite the bright day's light :)
I like the clouds in the sky over the castle: they add some dynamism and nice look to the picture :)

A very beautiful shot of this famous castle. The castle arise very well in the sky, nice blue sky with beautiful wgite clouds.
