Photographer’s Note
I think i was lucky to capture this shot really, because it had been a very poor sunset and i was about to pack up and go home, when i noticed the moon peeping out from behind the clouds!
Of course, i wasn't going to miss my chance to get at least one decent photo of my trip to the other side of the island, so i set up and managed to get this fairly complicated shot.
I used an ND8 Graduated filter, but i had to lighten up the cliff is PS, otherwise it would look much too dark.

Superb shot Jamie, technically flawless.
The first thing I look for on a shot like this is for the horizon to be level. Which it is. The second thing is a point of focus- the rocks in the forground accomplish this nicely, especially when combined with the slow shutter speed on the water.
You mentioned having to brighten up the cliff in photoshop. I would have thought bringing the graduated filter in from the side would have done it as that seems to be the brighter portion of the shot?
Love the range of color in the sky...
Well done Jamie!

Hello Jamie,
The color really pops on this shot, you nailed it. The calm sea really helps the long exposure surf effect.

Beautiful shot.
You have just few objects in the foreground but it looks so interesting. The effect of moving water makes it really spectacular. And you were lucky to have nice clouds as well.
Congratulations.

perfect compo, perfect exposure and perfect timing! the pp and the grad filter seem to have created wonders. it is also amazing how big the moon looks, considering you used only 17-70. congrats, I love it.

Hello Jamie,
The moon, its reflections and the rocks are are most important elements of this shot. Very beautiful colours. Not an easy shot, I guess... Congratulations,

Hi Jamie,
I see some kind of a horizontal balance..
the stone in the foreground and the moon are the weights, and the horizon is the pointer of the balance. Hope you understand what I mean :)
In any case, very well composed.
Cheers Christian
