Photographer’s Note
Hi,
Todays post is of Gayle Beck tumbling its way through the town of Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales. The word beck is North Country terminology for a stream, and Gayle Beck, seen here passing between some cottages feeds into the nearby River Ure.
Hawes is a market town but is most famous for being the home of Wensleydale Cheese and the dairy where it is made. Every Tuesday the town hosts an auction mart, mainly sheep, together with an open market where plenty of local produce is available. It is a typical Dales town, but possesses very much a village atmosphere.
